iluvladygaga232's banner

Wow. I am amazed with myself. When I look at it I think: 'did I really do this?'. I tried a new and harder shading technique, and it turned out much better than all the other graphics I've done put together! Like, seriously. See for yourself.
The graphic (full size):
The finished banner:
I don't know how big you want it, but you can always change the size!

Credits to Stardoll for the stool, I can't draw furniture myself!

Anywayzzz z z z  z  z  z   z (a word that is falling asleep) what do you think about it? :D

And the other people who are waiting for a graphic should be looking forward until it will be their turn, because from now on every graphic will get better and better!

UPDATE: Silly me, I added a shadow on the text but not on the doll herself! Better do that now.
UPDATE 2: Done!

Please?

I remember once when this blog still had the old rating system, someone had rated every single post on that page 1/5 stars. I mean, not only the graphics but also posts that didn't contain any graphics or drawings at all, like this one! Now that has happened again. All the posts on the first page are rated 'not very good', and it's really annoying! Of course I don't mind if you think my graphics or drawings are not very good because I agree with that, but why should this person rate everything as bad, also the places where there is nothing to rate?
To whoever is doing this, please stop. Or, at least, comment and tell me why you are doing this.

A preview of iluvladygaga232's graphic

I'm going to try a better shading technique this time, I hope it will turn out well! And don't worry, the huge 'mgirl07' will be removed!

What has happened to me?

I feel so... lazy. I have only made two graphics in almost a month! Isn't that horrible? I am so mad at myself for wasting time on pointless things like reading all possible other blogs and dressing up dolls instead of making graphics!
Yeah, sorry for being so inactive. I don't even have a preview or a drawing for you this time. That's because last week I started reading Harry Potter. That might explain it.
The weather doesn't make me feel better. It's one of the longest days of the year, and the weather is almost like in winter - 13 degrees, cloudy, windy and raining. This is one of those days when I really hate living in Denmark.
Yesterday evening it was Saint Hans' evening, in Sweden known as the Midsummer. There was a bonfire, but  it was raining most of the time and the fire was quite small. I remember when we celebrated it two years ago at the same place, I was wearing a yellow t-shirt. Yesterday I had to wear a warm jacket and waterproof pants. Not the most festive clothes for Midsummer.
Me looking at the small fire by a grey lake, hiding from the rain under a tree
Okay, it wasn't that bad. It was actually quite fun, but I still miss the summer weather.

I promise, I'll get to work now.
You'll hear more from me today or tomorrow, I promise!

UPDATE: I do have something to show you! I've made some random drawings over the past few weeks, and here are some of them:
A girl falling asleep of boredom (on the cover of a Danish test)
A girl with glasses and a cute minidress standing in a punctuation exercise book.
A crying girl at the back side of a history text. Her tears don't have anything to do with the text, I was just bored.
I think that's all for now!

Another sketch/drawing + new look + holidays

The title says it all. While I was watching the Cars movie with my little brother for the 10000000th time (okay, it is a good movie!) I got a bit bored, because I already know exactly what's going to happen and even all the things they say. So, I made a new sketch. It's not very nice, in my opinion. But what do you think?

You might have noticed that yesterday the blog's background changed from clouds to bubbles. It's boring to always have the same blog design, I get quickly tired of it. I wasn't satisfied with it, so today I changed it again! What do you think about the new colour scheme?
You might also have noticed the new reactions instead of the rating. I'm not so good at making them, so if there's one you want to add or change any of them, just tell me!

And as the last part of this post, I HAVE SUMMER HOLIDAYS IN TWO WEEKS! Yay! So this week, starting tomorrow, is the last week of real lessons! Hopefully I will have more time for graphics, and for updating this blog!

Pixlr drawings

Today I had a lot of time, and after starting a graphic and getting really tired of it I decided to take a break. There were no new posts on my Blogger dashboard, so I decided to do something I had been thinking about for some time now: check out what Pixlr is.
And no, I'm not disappointed. Not at all, actually. It's much better than the program I use right now, so it will maybe be the place for my future graphics!
The first thing I noticed was the amazing quality of the 'pencil' tool. I fell in love with it, and started drawing. Here are the results of an hour's waste of time:
This is a sort of cartoon-drawing, I know it's not very well proportioned. But it's cute. And keep in mind that I do NOT have a tablet, so this was made without one!
Out of the about 1 hour I used on these two drawings, this one took up around 45 minutes. I am not very good at side portraits, not even when I draw on paper, but this has come out quite well.

What do you think?

P.S. I've made it easier to comment, because now you don't need to complete a word verification every time you comment, and it comes up in a new window!

Just wondering...

Can you readers actually see the rating bar at the bottom of the page? Once when I used a library computer to go on the internet it wasn't there, and now on my computer the ratings don't show up! I have been wondering why the number of visitors is increasing and I get some comments, but no ratings! I went back to my old posts, that I saw were rated before, but now it says '0 ratings' on them too!

If you can't see it, or it makes the blog load slowly or anything else, please let me know it and I'll replace it with the 'reactions' tabs.

Thank you so much,

Pizzagirl6's finished banner

Woah, sorry for being so late! I won't list all the resins why I'm so late because there are tons of them, as always, but let's go straight to the point.
(this is the original size, it can be made smaller)
What do you think? Should I add a background?

I'm in a physics lesson right now, so I better post this quickly:
Not my best, but okay.

Working on Pizzagirl6's graphic/banner

It's almost done, I just need to fix up a few things. Here is the unfinished version:
The shadow around the dress will be erased, and text will be added. But right now I should really hurry to bed!

UPDATE: please tell me the text that I should put in ASAP!

Jem--n-Em edited

I've basically added a shadow, put some more highlights on the dress and fixed up some small things. Is it better now?

Jem-n-Em's graphic (huge delay)

I'm so sorry for the huge delay, you probably don't want to hear my excuses for it. God, 6 graphic requests, 2 big tasks at school due Monday and Tuesday (that I have barely started) and a maths homework that I don't understand. SIX GRAPHIC REQUESTS! Of course it makes me happy that you like my graphics but I'm like in a crisis situation right now. On the other hand, I don't want to close the requests page! I'm afraid you'll just have to wait.
Anywayz, here it is (in original size, of course it can be made smaller):
I am seriously proud of the hair. Like wow. It almost looks like a Stardoll hairstyle, and I made it ALL BY MYSELF! :D
All the rest is okay. The dress is not shaded very much, but that's because I was afraid of making it look wrong. I re-did the dress shading two or three times!
If you want, I can also add a shadow :)
What do you think?

Hair mini-tutorial

Hi guys!
I promised that I would maybe make a sort of tutorial for how I make my hair, and I'll just do it now. Remember, this does NOT mean you should do it the exact same way, I'm just showing the very basics of this technique for other beginner graphic designers, so they can improve it their own way!
Remember to read all the text and not only the pictures, because there is not a picture for every step!
*NOTE: some of the pictures are zoomed more in than others, don't get confused!*

1. Add a new layer to your graphic. I'll speak about it as 'layer 1'. Draw the outline of your hair. If you're not very good at it, try to start with simple hairstyles like completely short hair, buns and straight hair. Do NOT start on curly hair before you have, like, loads of experience with straight hair! Curls are much harder, in my opinion!
Now, fill it using the brush or paint bucket tool. Make the color slightly darker than the desired hair colour - for example, for blond hair you need a dark beige.
2. Add one more layer, 'Layer 2'. Now use the lasso select tool if you have a tablet or polygonal lasso/scissors select tool if you don't have one. Select several zig-zag shapes there, where there should be highlights (if you're not sure, try to take a picture of yourself and try to see which parts of the hair are lighter, and which are in the shadow. Or try to look at professional graphic designers' work (I'm not talking about myself lol) and try to see where their hairstyles are highlighted.
Now, fill them in with a color slightly paler than the background, but not too much. This balance is hard to find - either there's too much difference and it ends up looking horrible or there's too little contrast and it looks like it's not shaded/highlighted in any way. But don't worry, you will find this balance. Practice makes perfect.
The screenshot above shows an example of one of the shapes you should make, and the one below shows  how it looks when you have added all the highlights that you need. Can you see where they are?
3. Now add a new layer, 'Layer 3'. Here you repeat step 2 with an even lighter color for the highlights, and to make sure that these will be 'inside' the shapes of Layer 2, hide Layer 1. It will look a bit weird, but in the end you will of course make it visible again.
it looks like this when you 'hide' layer 1
The shapes you will make now will be even more narrow and zig-zaggy, like this:
4. Finally, add the 4th and last layer that you will need for the hair. Repeat step 3 - hide layer 1 and 2, pick an even lighter color and make even smaller zig-zags on top of the previous layer. Don't worry if you think they are too small or not very visible, Layer 4-highlights add that special shine to your hair.
5. Quickly check that it looks okay so far, that you haven't made too much or too little contrast with the colours.
6. Now we have done the highlights, but we still need the shading. Select the original hair color again with the color picker, and make it slightly darker this time. Now go on Layer 2, and make some zig-zag shapes the places where there are no highlights. These should be more narrow, and be careful not to make a shadow touch or cover a highlights! Think that they are enemies, and they shouldn't come close.

On the picture I've shaded the places that are circled with red. Inner corners, opposite side of where the light is coming from and the hair parting.

7. Repeat step 3, only with shading instead of highlighting.
8. I don't think it's necessary to make even more layers of shading, so you won't need to use Layer 4. However, this is my own opinion and if yours is different, that's fine with me.

9. Here is what the finished hair looks like:
... and the finished graphic:

I hope this helped to you other beginners out there! :D
I won't make many tutorials from now on, but I'm planning to make a guide on 'made by...' labels and credits on graphics - how visible they should be, where they should be on a graphic and why you need them at all. But let's save that for another time, and if I forget it, remind me in about a week. :)

If you don't understand what I am babbling about in this tutorial, or you have another question, remember to ASK!

That's all for today,
  - Maria/mgirl07

P.S. Today was my birthday party and it went great! It was the best birthday party I've ever had! And tomorrow I will be 13 years old! Yayayay! (Ok, that was random.)

Not too sure about the text. I should have moved the bottom part more down, but on my stupid editing program you can't move a selected part of a picture but only the selection itself! If I had to change it, I would have to erase the text AND the shadow underneath it, and do it all one more time! Grr! And I don't have the courage to install a more advanced program!
But if you really don't like it, of course I can change it to something else :)

I'm so happy, because tomorrow is my birthday and I'll be 13 years old! And today is my birthday party! Yay! :D
